Alec Macdonald, who has ben the resident deerstalker at Achnacarry for over 30 years, has teemed up with Simon Laird a stalking tenant on the estate, to set up a business called Achnacarry Sporting & Country Pursuits. A first report from First Lighter Tristan Sanders
I left New Zealand with a farewell committee made up of my Family and Clan members. It was a long flight, a lot of sleeping and a few movies helped pass the time along with 1.5 hr break in Hong Kong and a further 3.5hrs in Heathrow. I finally arrived in Glasgow where I was met by previous First Lighter Robert Nairn.
The Jacobite Risings of 1715 and 1745 are the inspiration behind a major exhibition at the Scottish Parliament displaying rarely seen and internationally significant treasures from the University of Aberdeen collections.
The exhibition runs from 27 October to 8 January 2011. It will travel to Aberdeen next year and will be the opening exhibition at the new £57m Library in September 2011.…Continue

As a result of the Highland Immigration and Bounty Migrant schemes which brought thousands of Highlanders out to Australia as free settlers in the mid 1800s (many of whom were Camerons), the Australian descendants of these Camerons are very aware that lost in the present population of Scotland are members of a family into which they connect.
