The website for the Scottish Register of Tartans lists two different Cameron hunting tartans. The first is called Cameron Hunting and the second Cameron of Lochiel (Hunting). Is the use of the Cameron of Lochiel (Hunting) tartan restricted to Lochiel and members of his immediate family as the standard Cameron of Lochiel tartan is? I ask because the tartan listed as Cameron of Lochiel (Hunting) is the one that I was already familiar with and I was planning on having a kilt made in this tartan. I do not want to do so if this would be inappropriate, however.

Thank you for the information. I am already looking forward to my new kilt.

It is quite in order for clansfolk to wear either of the hunting tartans in their various forms. Cameron of Lochiel (Hunting) is not restricted to the immediate family. I regularly wear both hunting tartans and hope you enjoy your new kilt.
